This difficult trail in the Iezer-Papusa Mountains enables you to reach the highest elevation in Romania on your bike. Start from Rausorul dam and climb the gravel road along the lake, on Rausorul Valley. After nearly 7 km, leave the valley and enroll start a long climb to the alpine zone in Iezer-Papusa Mountains. Get out of the forest, enjoy the view and gain in elevation on your way to Portareasa Saddle. From here, climb further to Iezeru Mic Mountain, first past Cernatu Peak and then past Obarsiei Peak. You are now at an elevation of over 2,000 m and soon you are going to reach the maximum elevation of 2,360 m, somewhere below Iezeru Mic Peak. From here you only descend, first past the Athenaeum Cross, from where you can see Iezer Lake and Mountain Hut. Speed up and go down the well-beaten gravel road on Mount Vacarea. From Vacarea sheepfold you soon reach a clearing and enter the forest for a steep descent that requires skill. Finally, you get down to the asphalt in the valley, near Voina Hut, where you return to the dam on the road that runs along Rausorul Lake.
